LADS History

LADS was founded in 1977 by members of the community of Lhanbryde & was originally named Lhanbryde Amateur Dramatic Society.

It was based in Lhanbryde Primary School which had a well equipped stage, back-stage storage & dressing rooms. Many full length & one act plays were successfully performed in this venue for 20 years, but with the building of the new Primary School, without the facilities needed by a drama group, LADS were on the lookout for a new venue.

A move was made to Milne's High School in Fochabers where productions were staged for the next 3 years until LADS made an attempt to return to Lhanbryde using the Village Hall. Although for 2 years the productions were successful, the lack of staging facilities influenced LADS decision once again to look for a more suitable venue and in 2002 the move was made to Holy Trinity Church Hall Elgin where performances are held at the present time.

After being settled in Elgin for a number of years the decision was made at an AGM to change the name of the group to LADS, leaving out the connection to Lhanbryde.
